May Niiya has an M.A. in American Studies from Columbia University’s Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race. Previously, she worked as the Graduate Coordinator for the Center for the Study of Social Difference’s Refugee Cities Working Group and Rapporteur for the Columbia University Seminar in American Studies, as well as at several law and consulting firms in New York City. She obtained her B.A. from Brown University in History and Ethnic Studies, and her research touches upon Asian American Studies and the history of the colonization of Hawaiʻi.
