M.A. PROGRAM IN AMERICAN STUDIES

BA/MA Option

The Columbia BA/MA option is available to students in Columbia College, School of General Studies, School of Engineering and Applied Science, and Barnard College and allows students to begin work toward an MA degree while completing their undergraduate educations. The MA program in American Studies is one of many MA programs within the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences that offers this option.

Students who are interested in the BA/MA option must consult program director Matt Sandler (mfs2001@columbia.edu) before applying. They should also consult their undergraduate advisors.

Applicants interested in the BA/MA option should apply at least two months prior to the semester in which they intend to begin taking courses that will count toward the MA. Application requirements for BA/MA applicants mirror those of MA applicants.

See this page for deadlines and details.
