Brian Hartwig is a doctoral candidate in the Department of English at Stony Brook University, where he received the President’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and the Advanced Graduate Certificate in Cultural Studies. At Stony Brook, he also works with a team of educators and administrators in the Career Center, where his focus is expanding Experiential Education opportunities. He is currently writing a dissertation that explores how American writers during the Progressive Era turned to theatrical techniques in order to advance social and political change. He is a New York State certified English Language Arts teacher.
